Shaolin — test everything
The examine phase must have a natural end point. Examination that continues into action becomes rumination — thought feeding on itself rather than informing life. The permission to stop examining and simply live is not a failure of the practice. It is the practice. The return phase closes the loop and prevents wu wei from becoming avoidance of self-knowledge.

Time — The Real Constraint
Practical Integration — No Monastery Required
Layer, don't add
Mindfulness and movement both attach to existing activity. The commute can be a walking meditation. Five minutes of Qi Gong before the day starts takes less time than the mental friction it prevents. These cost nothing extra.
Brief and honest beats long and obligatory
Ten genuine minutes of reflection is worth more than an hour contaminated by guilt about not doing it perfectly.
The overhead is the cost
Most time is lost not in tasks but in resistance to tasks — the friction before starting, the rumination after. Reducing friction is itself a practice.
Some things won't get done
This is not failure. The Stoic accepts what cannot be controlled. The Buddhist releases the craving for completion. The Taoist stops fighting the current. All three say: this is enough.

Striving is how you build the instrument. Effortlessness is what it sounds like when you finally know how to play it.
The masterpiece and the lump of clay are the same material. The only difference is time, attention, and the refusal to smash it when it wobbles.
